October is here! I don’t know about you, but I personally love the whole feel of October. From the cooler weather that allows me to unpack my favorite cozy sweaters, to the beautiful change in scenery on the leaves outside. And let’s not forget that best part of October… Halloween! Growing up, I always loved Halloween, and while I can’t go out and trick-or-treat like I did as a kid (I mean you could, but I think it might be frowned upon as an adult with no kids), I figured I would celebrate Halloween this year with spooky and festive inspired drinks.
Check out these 5 Halloween cocktails I’ll be drinking to celebrate the spooky season!
Vampire Kiss Martini
For this forbidden drink, you will need:
1.5 ounces vodka
1.5 ounces sparkling wine (I used Champagne)
3/4 ounce raspberry liqueur
Red sugar for rim
Directions:
1. Start by grabbing a glass, and rimming the glass with red sugar
2. Mix your vodka and raspberry liqueur together with a cocktail shaker and pour into your glass
3. Top with your choice of sparkling wine
Drunken Peanut Butter Cups
Peanut Butter Cups were my favorite candy to find in my basket after a night of trick or treating, so why not enjoy a boozy version of them as an adult? You will need:
2 oz peanut butter whiskey
1.5 oz Godiva
2 oz milk (or milk alternative)
1/2 cup Reese’s pieces
Ice
¼ cup peanut butter
2 tbsp chocolate syrup (optional)
1 Reese’s peanut butter cup (optional)
Directions:
1. Spread peanut butter on the outside of the rim of your glass, and roll in Reese’s pieces
2. Mix your peanut butter whiskey, Godiva, and milk into a cocktail shaker with ice, shake until frothy, then pour into your glass
3. Garnish with a peanut butter cup and some chocolate syrup
Pumpkin Moscow Mule
All I have to say about this drink – oh my gourd. You will need:
3 oz vanilla vodka
1 tablespoon pumpkin puree
¼ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
Squeeze of lime
Ginger beer (I like to use a spicy one)
Directions:
1. In a cocktail shaker filled with ice shake together vodka, pumpkin puree, pumpkin pie spice and lime juice
2. Pour into a copper mule mug filled with ice and top with ginger beer
3. Garnish with a sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice
Zombie Brains
Drink at your own risk! You will need:
1/4 cup raspberries (this will be the brains!)
1/4 cup pomegranate juice
2 ounces orange juice
2 ounces vodka
1 ounce chambord
Ice
Ginger ale
Red sugar for rim
Directions:
1. In a cocktail shaker, muddle your raspberries until they break down
2. Add the pomegranate juice, orange juice, vodka, Chambord and ice and shake vigorously
3. Strain into ice-filled glasses, and top with ginger ale
Caramel Apple Martini
An ode to the classic Halloween party game, “bobbing for apples”. You will need:
2 ounces apple cider
2 ounces caramel vodka
1 ounce butterscotch schnapps
Sliced fresh apple (optional)
Cinnamon sugar (optional)
Directions:
1. Start by grabbing a martini glass, and rimming the glass with your cinnamon sugar
2. Mix your apple cider, caramel vodka, and butterscotch schnapps in a cocktail shaker with ice, and pour into your glass
3. Garnish with an apple slice
Whether you’re heading to a Halloween party, or staying in for a scary movie marathon, these drinks are sure to be a hit. I hope you have just as much fun drinking these as my friends and I had making them!
Happy Halloween!
