Folktale Winery is a truly magical place. Something that really drew me into visiting this winery, is that they’re inspired by the idea that in every great bottle of wine, there is a story. Each bottle filled with the uniqueness of place, a year of sun and rain, and the art and craft of winemaking.
Located in Carmel, just 5 miles from the Pacific Ocean, Folktale is an idyllic setting. It’s completed with a beautiful old-world French chateau and surrounded by sprawling vineyards and oak-studded mountains.
Bob and Patti Brower, the owners of this winery, had a specific vision that was inspired by their trips to the Bordeaux region of France. When they opened the winery in 1982, they were determined to bring that experience of wine and hospitality to Carmel. They did not disappoint.
The team at Folktale Winery is curious, optimistic, and passionate about what they do. They’re always pushing the barriers and trying new ideas to craft delicious wines. While there, their team offered at least a dozen wines to try. While tasting, their winemaker excitedly told me about more that he was working with behind the scenes, and also talked about past projects he’d toyed with, which was super interesting to hear about!
Folktale Winery is also a place of hospitality. There’s a wine garden restaurant open for lunch & dinner, and Sunday brunch. One thing to love about that is that all the food is sourced from local farms and is sustainably raised. Their menu is truly unique to the season, present in the moment, and absolutely delicious.
Wine With Paige is all about finding that “everyday magic”. It represents being fully present in our lives and awakening a deeper appreciation for the world around us.
That’s one of the things I love most about wine. We often intentionally slow down after pouring a glass. We take the time to appreciate the color, breathe deeply, and ponder the aromas. For just a moment, we stop and exist, and become truly present in that moment. Wine is a tool for everyday magic.
Folktale Winery exactly embodies everything I wish to teach in finding the magic every day.
